US ARMY AIR FORCE LEATHER A-2 FLIGHT JACKET

This is part of a large grouping of items we recently acquired from the estate of this former aviator. He started with the Army Air Forces in WWII as a gunner on a B-24 and then went on to serve as a Navigator in the U.S. Air Force serving in Korea and Vietnam before finishing his extensive flight career in Germany. Because of the time span of his service, he had many uniforms and gear from several time periods. Although we normally do not break up groupings, we felt that the sheer volume of this one would overwhelm most collectors, so we are selling the items individually. Some of the more common items will be offered on eBay while the more interesting and historic pieces will be listed here on our website. The family was kind enough to share with us some digital scans of the man wearing many of the items that we are selling. These photos are provided here on-line for reference and provenance only. No physical photos will be provided and no copyright of the images will be transferred. This is a rare opportunity to acquire actual named flight worn items in many cases with a photo of it in wear.
This one has seen much wear and use. Cuffs and waistband have been replaced. Inside lining partially replaced. Named to the airman that flew as a gunner on the B-24’s and B-29’s in WWII under hanger. Spec tag lost to time. Zipper still works and would display or wear well. Measurements: All measurements are figured while garment is laid flat (and fastened, if possible). Underarm to underarm across the front is approximately 20 inches. Top of shoulder seam to top of shoulder seam across the back is approximately 17.5 inches. Top of shoulder seam to bottom of cuff is approximately 25.5 inches. Top of folded collar to bottom down the back is approximately 26.5 inches.
